Tips for eating healthily at work

If you are reading this, you must be looking to lead a healthy lifestyle, but it can be hard when we’re at work, always in a rush and faced with a lack of healthy options.
However, there are options and ways to eat healthily at work. Although you have to be ready for the challenges it brings, like that quick trip to the vending machine, a colleague who suggests going for a coffee and a pastry, or when someone brings in a huge sugary cake to celebrate their birthday.
So, here are a few tips to help you break those bad habits and start living a healthier life.
1. Making up your mind.
Being aware and facing the challenge with a positive mental attitude will make the change more bearable.
At first, it might be a good idea to jot down all your achievements and results. We are confident that each day you will be so proud of everything you are achieving, and you’ll soon be convinced that this new life is the one for you.
Always read food labels carefully and, preferably, choose products with just a few recognisable ingredients that are easy to pronounce.
Healthy eating does not have to be complicated; it may be difficult at first, but you just need some time to get used to your new habits.
2. Do not skip breakfast
Start the day with a nutritious healthy breakfast. You’ll charge up your batteries and be full of energy to face another day at work.
Your body and brain will function better, and you’ll no longer feel the call of the vending machine.
3. Make sure you always have a healthy option close at hand.
For those moments when your stomach starts to growl, make sure you have a drawer full of healthy, low cal, nutritious foods such as nuts and dried fruits, fresh fruit, carrot sticks… or any of our Be Plus Smoothies with fewer than 100 calories, made using nutritious and healthy ingredients.
Make sure food is out of sight or you will feel tempted to eat.
Also, make sure you stay well hydrated. During the day, we should drink at least 1 litre of water. Start the day with a large bottle of water and make an effort to finish it by the end of the day.
4. Be prepared.
A good way to control what you eat is to have a weekly meal planner. This will save you time and money.
It’s also a good idea to prepare meals the night before.
5. Keep moving
A sedentary job can be tough and is not a good ally for a healthy lifestyle. But it doesn’t have to be this way. There are little things we can do to keep us active and moving in the workplace: for example, we can take the stairs instead of the lift or get off the bus or train one or two stops before our destination.
We can also find things to do after work, such as exercising at the gym. Find one close to your work and exercise your stress away. Maybe get a work colleague to sign up with you and you can share experiences, recipes, and in the end you’ll achieve the best version of yourself.
